About the show
Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys' expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action.

Run time is two hours with a ten minute intermission, featuring an all-ages cast and a live band. Production is rated PG, with some references and depictions of violence.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.
About the program...
Everyone who registers gets a role in the show, casting is based on auditions. Actors should prepare 16 bars of a an up tempo song for auditions (bring sheet music marked and in your key). This production will be conducted at the pre-professional level. Auditions are open to adults as well. Adult roles will be played by adults. There is no fee for adults to participate. Actor may be asked to provide pieces for their own costume especially shoes. Shoes for this show will be: black or beige jazz shoes or lace up boots (turn-of-the century style). Note that the role of Jack Kelly has been pre-cast, although it is possible that we may double cast the role. Audition info, characters and rehearsal schedule will be posted here late January.
